Have you walked in the 3-day? If so, I would love to hear your story & any advice!

Valentine's Day Recap

Hi Sweets!

I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Valentine's day!  I have always loved Valentine's day no matter my relationship status at the time.  Valentine's day is about love & all kinds of it. Not just that between a couple. Also, how could you not love a holiday with so much pink? Here's a quick recap of my day..

As I've mentioned before I am on my office's event committee (remember the holiday party).  We decided to make these cute little goody bags to pass out to everyone in the office.  It was a hit - it felt like elementary school again.  See those cake pops - my friend Mary made 200+ in her spare time.  She's an angel, they were delicious!

Stole this pic from my friend Jack
About a month ago out of the blue, I decided I wanted to plan Valentine's day.  I of course checked with the BF and he was fine with it, though he did admit that yesterday he felt a little weird about it.  I just wanted a low key evening where we could relax and enjoy each others company.  I cleaned the apt up, lit too many candles for a tiny apartment, set the table, and ordered take out from our favorite North End restaurant, Panza.  I had everything waiting for us when he arrived. I even made a super cheesy but equally awesome Valentine's play list (if you have Spoitfy you can listen to it here).  He showed up with some gorgeous flowers and a bottle of champagne. It was perfection.

He knows me well - I'm not a fan of just roses.
However the best part was saved for later in the evening. On one of my favorite blogs, A Cup of Jo, I saw a post about a star projector and I just had to have it to add to our evening.  Let me tell you, this little star projector was the bane of my existence one day.  It shipped from Hong Kong and came in a million little pieces - I built the entire thing, including the electrical wiring of it.  The BF completely loved it so it was well worth my hard work.

Not my apartment - but you get the idea
How did you all celebrate Valentine's day? Did you go out? Stay in? Hang with friends, family, or have a night to love yourself?

It's That Time Again!

TGIF!

One of my best friends, Katherine, is coming in from NYC for our sweet friend Allies birthday this weekend! It will be "like a dream" as Allie would say.  Allie and Katherine were my two very first friends at Northeastern and they are just two of the most wonderful people I know.  It's sure to be yet another weekend filled with laughter, love, and of course .. dancing!

Here's something to get you in the mood, courtesy of the DJBF:

PS - look at the adorable card I made her on the Red Stamp app!

Bikes & Boston

For one reason or another I have decided I want a bike.  This actually came as quite a surprise to me as bikers in Boston are typically not my favorite people (they can get aggressive!).  Maybe it's all the post's about spring fashion at NYFW that have me dreaming of biking the streets of Boston.  I'm not looking for a super speedy or small urban bike, I want a pretty pastel colored beach cruiser and will not settle for anything less.

What do you all think? Could I pull of a beach cruiser bike in Boston?

The Liberty Hotel

This past weekend I went out with the girls to celebrate a friends visit to town. We all met at the Liberty Hotel for a night full of catching up, cocktails, pretty dresses, and dancing of course!  The Liberty hotel is truly one of my favorite spots in Boston but for some reason I don't get there too often.

Fun Fact - it used to be a jail!
The scene is perfect for 20-something young professionals looking for a night out without being surrounded by college kids, which is not an easy task for a city like Boston.  One of my favorite aspects of it is that you can have a few casual drinkies upstairs and then head down the escalator to dance the night away at Alibi.

The girls & I had a great night @ the Liberty and we will most certainly be back again soon. What are some of your favorite Boston spots for a night out? I'm always looking to try new places!

Super Bowl Snacks

Yesterday may have been a sad today for us Patriots fans, however, no matter the outcome of the game there is always one aspect of the Super Bowl that never disappoints - the snacks.

This year I tried two new snacks and they were such a hit I just have to share the recipes with everyone!  I know its hard to go wrong with buffalo chicken dip & wings, but these versions are just out of this world and perfect for any party.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

2-3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup of Franks Red Hot Sauce
1 cup of Ranch dressing
1 8oz package of cream cheese
1 bag of sharp cheddar cheese

  1. Boil the chicken for 35-45 minutes until cooked & preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Cut the cream cheese up into cubes and layer at the bottom of a pyrex dish
  3. Sprinkle the cheese over the cream cheese cubes
  4. Pour the Ranch dressing & Franks Red Hot over the cream cheese, cheese mixture
  5. Put the dish in the oven for 7-10 minutes - take it out & mix it, put it in for another 7-10 minutes, mix again
  6. When the chicken is done, shred it, and mix into the cheesy sauce mixture
  7. Put the whole thing in the oven for another 15-20 minutes & Enjoy!

Soy Orange Wings

Party Wings
10 oz Soy Sauce
1 cup of Brown Sugar
1 cup of Orange Juice
A little bit of minced garlic

Let the wings marinate overnight and cook for at 350 degrees for 1 hour - perfection.

PS - Don't worry Tom - you've still got your dashing good looks! xx
